UNIVERSITY OF MELBOURNE — Works

Kathleen Fitzpatrick ECR Visiting Fellow, October–November 2026

ABOUT THE PROGRAM - The [Laureate Program on Global Corporate Climate Accountability](https://www.corpclimateaccountability.org/) is a five-year research program at Melbourne Law School, funded by an Australian Research Council Laureate Fellowship and led by Professor Jackie Peel, a leading expert in international climate law and climate litigation - The program investigates how international law, transnational standards, and accountability mechanisms can raise corporate climate ambition, turn companies’ climate promises into action, and curb greenwashing THE FELLOWSHIP - Received an offer to undertake a [Kathleen Fitzpatrick Early Career Research Visiting Fellowship](https://www.corpclimateaccountability.org/visiting-fellowships) from October to November 2026 - The fellowship comes with an AUD 10,000 grant. The scheme supports outstanding early-career women researchers from the Global South or those researching Global South countries, particularly on climate litigation and accountability - During the visit, I will join team research meetings, policy roundtables, workshops, and work-in-progress seminars; receive mentoring from Professor Peel; and participate in events hosted by Melbourne Law School and Melbourne Climate Futures WHY IT CONNECTS - Builds on my Corporate Climate Responsibility Monitor work assessing the integrity of major companies’ climate commitments and identifying where stronger accountability is needed - Extends my Climate Action Tracker work on Indonesia and Egypt by connecting national climate ambition and implementation with the rules and accountability mechanisms that shape corporate action - Carries forward my research on the legal and governance frameworks needed to hold financial institutions accountable for credible climate action
